Jennifer McBain, FNP-C, AAHIVS, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, obesity medicine, sexual health, LGBTQIA+ health, and infectious diseases. She is passionate about reducing health disparities and is deeply committed to advancing health equity through compassionate, evidence-based care. Jennifer has extensive experience in chronic disease management and prioritizes meeting people where they are, to support patients in achieving their health goals in ways that are realistic, individualized, and empowering. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care that supports individuals and families across the lifespan.

Jennifer grew up on Long Island and moved to the Capital District nearly 20 years ago, where she built both her career and her family. She began her nursing journey at Hudson Valley Community College, later earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Empire State University. In 2019, she graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University. In 2022, she completed a mini residency in HIV Medicine at Albany Medical Center and obtained her national board certification in HIV Medicine. Her clinical experience includes working at local hospitals in trauma and labor and delivery, home care, and primary care clinics in the Capital District caring for patients across the lifespan.

In addition to her clinical work, Jennifer has a strong background in education. She worked as a Teacher Assistant in Special Education for many years in local school districts and has served as an adjunct clinical professor at Russell Sage College. She continues to mentor the next generation of nurse practitioners through student preceptorships. Jennifer is a lifelong learner who actively pursues her own continuing education to ensure she remains up to date on the latest evidence-based medicine. It is extremely important to Jennifer that her patients receive the highest standard of care. She is board certified by both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of HIV Medicine and continues to be an active member in both organizations.

Community involvement and social justice are also extremely important to Jennifer. She enjoys participating and volunteering in community organizations and initiatives such as The Capital Region Ending the HIV Epidemic Committee. Reflecting on her dedication to advocacy, empowerment, and improving the health of everyone.

Outside of her professional roles, Jennifer enjoys rock climbing, spending quality time with her husband, children, friends, and focusing on her own wellness. She values balance, connection, and finding joy in the simple moments of life.
